The Belgian Road Safety Institute is a non-profit association (ASBL in French) which aims at promoting road safety. Ever since our creation in 1986, we have led a great number of actions designed to influence road safety in a positive way. Our activities are connected with the three factors that determine road safety: the road user, the vehicle and the road (traffic environment).
As a centre of knowledge and services for road safety, the BRSI wishes to contribute to the reduction of the number of road casualties by playing a leading role in society and being a reference in the field of road safety, and this is based on a multi-causal approach in which individuals, technology and infrastructure occupy a central position.
The Belgian Road Safety Institute intends to contribute actively to a lasting reduction of the number of road casualties and an improvement in traffic conviviality. In 2011, during the third Traffic Safety Round Table Talks, a new goal was set, namely a 50% reduction of the number of road casualties in Belgium in 2020 compared to 2010 (840 people killed on the road).
